I can’t help but make photographs that have a painterly feel when I’m on Mykonos. Heck, I can’t look out my eyes and see the world for what it is when I’m here. I must say: I wish my tax dollars were spent on making my hometown like a little fairytale world like this is. For this picture, I wanted something simple and powerful (a red door) to balance contrast and balance out the busy-ness of the floor. Then I ended up fine tuning my composition and chose this specific spot because the dominant lines lead down the pathway to the right, drawing you into the photograph.
