The more I travel, the more I find that guidebooks are flawed. There are just so many out-of-the way special places that aren’t—and really can’t—be mentioned. This is one of Sydney’s hidden jewels. Grab a picnic basket and head over the bridge (opposite the Circular Quay and the Rocks) and soak in the sunshine and the view.
When I was printing this photo, I mixed and masked together some warm and cool filters to create this pleasing combination of late afternoon with the deep blue skies and late sunset with the deep gold shining on the bench. Why? (a) because it looks beautiful but (b) because it adds to the iconography (story telling) of the image.
